Lucy Ibérica receives official order from Basque Government
Lucy Software Ibérica S.L. received an official order from the Basque Government to improve the existing Spanish→Basque language-pair for Machine Translation. The project consist in
- Importing Spanish→Basque EUSKALTERM terminology delivered by the Basque Government into the MT system and evaluating the improvements in translation quality (TQ) by translating actual internal documents from the Basque Government. This will be done for two areas in a first step, namely Public Administration and Law.
- Repeating the process, this time by importing existing TMX Spanish→Basque memory modules provided by the Basque Government and containing bilingual texts from these two areas.
- Training the staff from the Basque Government on the system.
- Collecting and consolidating important and recurrent translation errors in the current system (performed by personnel from the Basque Government) and implementing the fixes in the lexicons and grammars (performed by Lucy Ibérica).
The project runs from June to September 2011, with the option to be extended to the end of October. For this project, Lucy Ibérica will collaborate with UZEI (Basque Center for Lexicography and Terminology).
